Subscribe once and every recurring statutory milestone appears in your own calendar with a week’s warning — AGAR season, the exercise of public rights, the Annual Parish Meeting window, precept time and year end.

What’s in it
- Tue, 30 June 2026 — AGAR approval & submission — common deadline
Approve the Annual Governance and Accountability Return and accounts in time for the public rights period to include the first ten working days of July. Check the date your external auditor has set.
- Wed, 1 July 2026 — Exercise of public rights — period must span early July
The 30-working-day inspection period must include the first ten working days of July. Publish the notice and unaudited AGAR before it starts.
- Wed, 30 September 2026 — Publish audited AGAR / notice of conclusion of audit
Publication of the audited AGAR and the notice of conclusion of audit — commonly due by 30 September.
- Sun, 31 January 2027 — Precept request — typical deadline window
Most billing authorities require the precept request during January. Check your own billing authority’s exact date.
- Mon, 1 March 2027 — Annual Parish Meeting window opens
The Annual Parish Meeting must be held between 1 March and 1 June (LGA 1972 Sch 12). Not a council meeting — a meeting of the electors.
- Wed, 31 March 2027 — Financial year end
Close the accounts for the year just ending. AGAR season begins.
- Sat, 1 May 2027 — Annual Meeting of the Council — must be held in May
The council’s annual meeting (election of chair) must take place in May; in an election year, within 14 days of councillors taking office.
- Tue, 1 June 2027 — Annual Parish Meeting window closes
Last day to hold the Annual Parish Meeting.
